As green beans markets open in the SAVA region in Madagascar, in July 2024, farmers have been cropping their beans for a few weeks but generally not prematurely. Although low in quantity, the present crop is high in quality.
Farmers are asking for Ar 75 000 which the price formerly recommended by the Malagasy government, and which is close to what could be called a sustainable price. But they will be getting Ar 28 000.
In the coming weeks, this price rises over the Ar 30 000 price: some large buyers stop buying; some others follow the trend. It is a question of opinion and judging which way the prices will go during the coming year and what do fundamentals teach them...
